However, once you arrive in Taiwan, things don’t always work as expected. Most issues aren’t caused by hardware problems, but by settings — such as eSIM activation, Apple ID region, dual SIM configuration, transportation payments, or charging.

1. Unable to install or activate a Taiwan eSIM

無法安裝或啟用台灣 eSIM

Some devices may not support eSIM, are still carrier-locked, or have compatibility limitations.

部分手機可能不支援 eSIM、仍為鎖機狀態,或存在相容性問題。

What to do|建議做法

Make sure your device supports eSIM and is unlocked.

確認手機支援 eSIM 且已解除電信鎖定。

Steps|操作步驟

Go to Settings > General > About (前往「設定 > 一般 > 關於本機」)

Check Carrier Lock → should show No SIM restrictions (查看**「電信業者鎖定」是否顯示「無 SIM 限制」**)

Go to Settings > Cellular and confirm “Add eSIM” is available (前往「設定 > 行動服務」,確認是否可「加入 eSIM」)

Restart your device and try again (重新啟動手機後再次安裝)



2. You have signal but no internet connection

有訊號但無法上網

Your SIM may be active, but mobile data could be assigned to the wrong line.

SIM 已啟用,但行動數據可能設定在錯誤的門號。

Ensure the correct SIM is selected for mobile data.

確認行動數據使用的是正確的門號。

Steps|操作步驟

Go to Settings > Cellular (前往「設定 > 行動服務」)

Tap Cellular Data (點選「行動數據」)

Select your Taiwan SIM/eSIM (選擇台灣 SIM/eSIM)

Turn Cellular Data ON (開啟行動數據)

Enable Data Roaming if needed (視需要開啟數據漫遊)



3. Your iPhone is still carrier-locked

手機仍為鎖機狀態

A locked phone cannot use other SIM cards.

若手機仍鎖定於原電信商,將無法使用其他 SIM 或 eSIM。

Check your carrier lock status.

確認手機是否已解鎖。

4. Unable to download local apps

無法下載台灣在地 App

Some apps are unavailable if your App Store region is set to another country.

若 App Store 地區非台灣,部分在地 App 可能無法下載。

Switch your Apple ID region to Taiwan.

將 Apple ID 地區切換為台灣。

Steps|操作步驟

Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Media & Purchases (前往「設定 > Apple ID > 媒體與購買項目」)

Tap View Account (點選「檢視帳號」)

Select Country/Region (點選「國家或地區」)

Choose Taiwan (選擇台灣)

Enter payment method and billing address (輸入付款方式與帳單地址)



5. Unable to change App Store region

無法切換 App Store 地區

This usually happens if your account has remaining balance or incomplete payment details.

若帳號仍有餘額或付款資訊不完整,可能無法切換地區。

Make sure your account setup is complete.

確認帳號設定完整。

Use up any remaining balance (將帳號內的餘額使用完畢)

6. Unable to download even free apps

7. Cannot use iPhone as an EasyCard

EasyCard is not currently supported in Apple Wallet.

目前悠遊卡仍未支援加入 Apple Wallet。

For most short-term visitors, the easiest option is still to buy and use a physical EasyCard.

Some travelers living in Taiwan may be able to use Easy Wallet after registering with an ARC (residence permit). However, this is generally not practical for short-term visitors.

部分在台居住之外籍人士,若持有居留證,可註冊悠遊付(Easy Wallet)使用相關功能;但對短期旅客來說,通常不適用。



8. Apple Pay is not accepted everywhere

Apple Pay 無法全面使用

Not all transportation systems support Apple Pay.

Use an EasyCard for better coverage.

9. Tapped the wrong MRT reader

Different readers may support different payment methods.

10. Battery, storage, or charging issues
